Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has urged leaders to unite and work for the greater good of the people of Kenya.

Speaking on Monday, Kindiki insisted that leaders must work without any form of discrimination and with dedication.

The Interior CS said that Kenyans are one people and that staying united will do away with the divisions being seen currently.

“Let’s work together regardless of race, religion or rank. Let us work for the citizens with dedication and focus on the unity of our Kenyan nation.

“If we continue with unity, we will have one Kenya without divisions. We are one people, one flag, one nation,” Kindiki said.

He spoke in Gathara, Kinangop Constituency in Nyandarua County where he had gone to launch the resumption of fully funded works on the 40.5km Engineer-Mbiginano-Gathara-Tulaga-Mbirithi-Chuma Road Project.

Kindiki said the government is accelerating the programme to complete road projects whose construction had stalled under the previous Administration due to funding constraints.

He added that the state is also initiating new road projects, which are crucial to the movement of people and goods thereby expediting Kenya's economic transformation.

"I urge you all to continue supporting the President so that you can continue getting development.

"We are all united, from elected leaders to those who hold different positions in government, we are working as one team."

He was accompanied by Roads and Transport CS Davis Chirchir, Principal Secretary for Roads Eng. Joseph Mbugua, Kinangop MP Kwenya Thuku, among other elected leaders.

Last week, Kindiki warned that no one will be allowed to politicise development projects.

He said that time for politics will come, and it is the people of Kenya who will decide who their leaders will be.

The CS added that the ongoing programme of completing all stalled projects, especially roads, will go on uninterrupted.

"My work is to simply ensure every citizen is safe and secure, all national government activities are being carried out as required. Anything else is secondary.

"Time for politics will come and you the citizens, will have an opportunity to make a decision," Kindiki said.

He assured the government’s commitment to ensure that all ongoing projects are completed and within the stipulated time.
