Six students have been arrested over a fire incident reported at Hospital Hill High School in Nairobi on Monday night.

The school administration and Westlands Subcounty director handed over six students to police.

According to the police, the six students are suspected to have either been directly involved or had prior knowledge of the planned incident.

The students are being held at Gigiri Police Station for interrogation.

This is the latest fire incident affecting schools in the country.

Elsewhere, a dormitory with a capacity of 116 students at Tututha Mixed Secondary School was razed on Monday.

Police officers rushed to the scene and established that the dormitory which housed Form Four students caught fire when the students were heading to class after the morning assembly.

Property of unknown value was destroyed, police said.

No casualties were reported, and the cause of the fire is yet to be established, police said.

Officers from Kalawani Police Station processed the scene and necessary action was taken.

In Kiangondu Sublocation in Tharaka Nithi, a dormitory housing 36 students at Kiangodu Day and Boarding Mixed Secondary School caught fire.

Officers from Chuka Police Station who responded to the incident said no casualties were reported but property of unknown value was destroyed.

The fire was extinguished by the Tharaka Nithi Fire Brigade team.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, police said.

Police are investigating the incidents.
