Gachagua buys two champion bulls worth Sh1.6 million from ASK show

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Wednesday walked away with two champion bulls from the ASK show livestock auction worth Sh1.6 million.

The champion bull was a three-year-old Boran bull from Kenya Seed Company weighing 690 kgs.

The DP has also bought the second champion bull, also from Kenya Seed.

The three-year-old Boran bull weighed 580 kgs and sold at Sh550,000.

This was during the Nairobi International Trade Fair public auction for fat stock cattle and sheep.

The Nairobi International Trade Fair started on Monday, September 23 and will run till Sunday, September 29 at Jamhuri Park Showground off Ngong Road.

The one-week Trade Fair has attracted over 500 global and local exhibitors from different sectors.

They include agriculture, manufacturing, housing, small and medium enterprises, banking, public and private sector institutions, hospitality and education.

A host of innovative technologies and innovations are on display.

ASK Nairobi branch chairman Joseph Mugo said the society through her annual Events will continue to accentuate the importance of adopting climate-smart initiatives in agriculture and trade.

This is in line with the theme of the Show “Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth”.

"The Nairobi International Trade Fair continues to provide an important focal point for sharing critical knowledge in agriculture and trade by ensuring exhibitors display new and emerging innovations, as well as advanced technologies within Nairobi City County environs," he said.

"Through live demonstrations, workshops, and interactive training sessions, the Nairobi International Trade Fair provides a platform for exhibitions, and networking that spur development in agriculture, trade, and allied sectors in line with the National Government’s agenda on agriculture and trade," Mugo said.

Gate charges are Sh300 for adults and Sh250 for children.

Special rates for schools and farmer groups with 10 or more attendees are Sh250 for adults and Sh200 for children.
