Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka were among the high-ranking officials who graced the memorial service for 21 victims of the Hillside Endarasha Academy fire tragedy.
Education CS Julius Ogamba and basic education CS Belio Kipsang were the top officials from the Ministry of Education who were present.
Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, DAP-K Party leader Eugene Wamalwa, Nyeri Senator Wamatinga Wahome and his Kitui counterpart Enoch Wambua, Nyeri Woman Rep Rahab Mukami, MPs Wanaina Njoroge (Kieni), Irene Njoki and former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu,(Bahati) were also present.
The memorial service was held at Mweiga Stadium in Nyeri County.
The fire raged through the dormitory of the Hillside Academy killing 21 boys.
More than 150 pupils were in the dormitory when it caught fire on September 5
21 died as a result of the tragedy with tens of others injured.
