Police in Uasin Gishu are investigating an incident in which five students sustained injuries after they were allegedly subjected to corporal punishment.

The students were allegedly forced to kneel and walk on their knees on a storny surface causing them to sustain injuries on their knees.

Some parents and human rights crusaders led by Kimutai Kirui stormed the school demanding action.

“Corporal punishment is abolished and we demand that the involved should be arrested and prosecuted,” Kimutai said.

It is alleged that the students were asked to answer a set book question but reportedly failed to answer after which a teacher allegedly ordered them to run round the classrooms.

A parent of one of the students stated that she was shocked when her daughter arrived home with injuries in the knees.
