The 2025 Diversity Visa applicants have been urged to check their entrant status by September 30, 2024.

The Entrant Status Check lets all entrants know if their online registration was selected or not.

The DV-2025 entrants check was opened on May 4, 2024, and will end on Monday, September 30, 2024.

Entries for the DV2025 Lottery were conducted from October 4, 2023, to November 7, 2023.

Kenyans who applied are to enter their confirmation numbers at http://dvprogram.state.gov/ESC/.

This is even as the opening of the 2026 application process is set to start on October 4, 2024.

"Find out if you were selected by entering your confirmation number at http://dvprogram.state.gov/ESC/. This is the only way to check if you have been selected," a statement by the US embassy in Kenya on May 4, 2024 read.

You will need to enter your confirmation number, which you received when you filled out your entry form, to check your entry status.

If one has lost their confirmation number, they will not be able to check the status of their entry.

The department will not be able to resend the confirmation number to you.

If your entry is selected, you will be directed to a confirmation page that provides additional instructions, including information on fees connected with immigration to the United States.

Selected entrants are encouraged to complete the online DS-260 application immediately to schedule an interview appointment at the appropriate U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

Each year, the United States government grants 50,000 permanent resident cards to people from countries with historically low rates of immigration to the US.

The (2023) Green Card Lottery is called the DV2025 Lottery.

Winners of the lottery will be entitled to enter the United States in 2025 on their new permanent resident card, also popularly known as a Green Card.

"For the fiscal year 2025, 50,000 permanent resident cards will be available for successful applicants. A permanent resident card is popularly known as a Green Card due to its green colour," the statement read.

People born in countries that sent more than 50,000 immigrants to the United States of America over the past five years were not allowed to enter the Diversity Visa Lottery.

A holder of a Green Card gets nearly all rights equal to those of a US citizen, according to The American Dream website.

They enjoy unlimited residency in the US, unlimited work permits and easy entry and exit into the country without a visa.

A Green Card guarantees its holder a permanent status to live and work in the United States.

It can be obtained through a job in the US, a family reunion with US relatives, a large investment in a US company, or  winning the Green Card Lottery.

Each year, the Department of State conducts a random selection of Diversity Immigrant Visa (DV) applicants, based on allocations of available visas in each region and country, from all registered entries.
