List of 9 key roads to close ahead of Jubilee race Sunday

Traffic along the affected sections of the roads will be interrupted from 12 am to 1 pm.

Sections of several roads in Nairobi will be closed on Sunday to pave the way for the Jubilee Insurance 'live free' race.

The event will take place from 12 am to 1 pm.

A list has been released showing the roads that will be closed to allow the event to take place.

The key roads whose section will be closed are:

1. Lang'ata road

2. Bunyala road

3. Haille Sellasie Avenue upto NHIF 

4. Uhuru Highway (Haille Sellasie Avenue to Nyayo Stadium)

5. Madaraka roundabout

6. Southern bypass ( Lang'ata entry from Ngong Road and Mombasa Road)

7. Nairobi West to Madaraka roundabout

8. Masaba Road to Bunyala Road

9. Donbosco roundabout to Hill Park Hotel

The participants of the race are expected to cover a distance of 60 km as the main race in four laps.

After lap 4, the participants will then proceed to the start/finish line.

The organisers, Jubilee Health Insurance said they will provide a one-day coverage for race-related injuries.

The international premier cycling event will bring together up to 2,500 elite cyclists from 21 countries including Ethiopia, Eritrea, USA, France and the East African Community, for an intense and adrenaline-fueled competition.

The event will harness the freedom inherent in cycling to create awareness of practical steps individuals and the community at large can take for a well-rounded life.
