Kenyans
living in Lebanon have been warned of fraudsters demanding money to evacuate
them.
This
comes days after the government urged Kenyans living in the war torn country to
register for evacuation amid escalating Israeli invasion.
The
State Department for Diaspora Affairs called on Kenyans in Lebanon to report
fraudsters trying to exploit them.
In
a statement, the department said the evacuation process offered by the
government is free.
“We
would like to alert all Kenyans currently in Lebanon about reports of
fraudsters exploiting vulnerable individuals. These individuals are unlawfully
charging fees for evacuation services.
“Please
be informed that the government of Kenya is conducting evacuations at no cost
to citizens. The government entirely funds the evacuation and you should not
pay anyone for these services,”
For
accurate information and assistance, Kenyans in Lebanon have been advised to
seek help through help lines +254-114-757-002 (Kenya), +96-171-175-006
