Police probe 3 cases of suicide in Machakos and Murang'a

Police are investigating three cases of suicide reported on Wednesday in Machakos and  Murang'a Counties.

The first incident was reported in Kiwanzani Village, Machakos County.

According to police, a 41-year-old man identified as Muindi Ndonye died by hanging himself with a manila rope tied around his neck on a tree within his compound.

Police officers rushed to the scene and confirmed the incident.

No suicide note was recovered

Matuu Police Station Officers documented the scene and the body which had no visible injuries was removed to Mbaku Funeral Home for preservation and an autopsy.

Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man was found dangling from the roof rafters with a sisal rope tied around the neck inside his mother's three-roomed house in Uvaini village, Machakos County.

Police officers visited the scene and no suicide note was recovered.

The body was moved to Kathiani Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

The case is pending investigation.

Elsewhere, in Kiriani a 59-year-old man died by suicide by allegedly ingesting insecticide.

According to police, his sons were looking for him in his house but found the door was locked from inside.

Police say they gained entry by breaking the door and discovered him lying on the bed with an insecticide container beside him

It was suspected that he had committed suicide by ingesting the insecticide, police said.

Kiriani police station officers visited the scene and confirmed the incident.

Although no suicide note was found, an insecticide in a 100 ml container was recovered and kept as evidence, police said.

 The scene was processed, and the body, which had no visible injuries, was taken to Kiriaini Mission Hospital morgue for postmortem.

The case is under investigation.
