Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has come to the defence of his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, who has been named in the motion to impeach him.
Speaking during a media briefing, the DP said mentioning the Dorcas Rigathi Foundation in the motion is “just an attempt to bring my family into the mud.” “
Every Kenyan knows the work Dorcas Rigathi has done in the country for the boy child,” he stated.
The DP said Dorcas has opened clinics for addicted children and gets a lot of money from the foundation.
“Since the decision was made not to fund the Office of the Spouse of the Deputy President, people have flocked to her with cash and material donations to help her continue with her programme in Kilifi, Mombasa, Nyandarua, Nairobi,” he said.
Gachagua added that the work of her wife is well documented.
“I am yet to see from the mover of the motion state the crime the foundation has done. There is no allegation, there is no evidence. There is nothing,” he stated.
Gachagua stands accused of corruption, money-laundering, gross misconduct, insubordination and bullying of public officers and six other acts of wrongdoing.
Some 291 out of the 349 MPs confirmed their support to impeach him.
