President William Ruto has called for prayers and support as he implements transformative programmes in the country.

Ruto acknowledged that there are a myriad of hurdles that stand in the way of undertaking some crucial government initiatives.

"Implementing some of the transformational changes to change our nation requires prayers, requires commitment," he said.

"I ask for your support, I ask for your prayers," 

Speaking during a church service at AIC Milimani Nairobi, Nairobi, the head of state reassured Kenyans that he will not be look back in ensuring his agenda succeeds.

He stated that delivering on the needs of Kenyans requires full commitment and dedication.

Ruto's remarks came amid the opposition by some quarters to the new health, education funding and affordable housing programmes.

The government officially transited October 1 from the decade-long NHIF to the new Social Health Authority (SHA).

Currently, he stated that 12.8 million Kenyans have been registered.

He expressed confidence that "we are going to change this country"

The president at the same time commended the faith-based institutions for supporting the government through its various initiatives.
