Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has reiterated Kenya's commitment to address the challenge of climate change.

Duale in a statement after hosting the Czech Republic's Ambassador to Kenya Nicol Adamcová on Monday said the two countries will partner in climate finance, circular economy, diplomacy, and early warning systems.

He said these are critical in enhancing Kenya’s environmental resilience and economic growth.

"In climate finance, Kenya welcomes the participation of the Czech Republic's private sector in carbon markets and investment in circular economy for wealth and job creation in line with the Government's BETA blueprint," Duale said.

"We look forward to Czech Republic's support for hosting the Plastics Treaty Secretariat at UNEP in Nairobi, leveraging their technology to accelerate Kenya's carbon markets, and enhancing early warning systems," the CS said.

In a bid to accelerate the rollout of carbon markets, the ministry acknowledged the Czech Republic’s technological expertise, highlighting its potential to drive Kenya’s emerging carbon market sector.

Also present during the meeting was the Head of Multilateral Environment Agreements (MEAs) at the ministry Linda Kosgei.
