Five politicians from Tana River County have been summoned by the NCIC following insecurity that has left at least 14 people dead.
The summon is in connection to ongoing investigations into insecurity in the area.
The five politicians include Tana River County Woman Representative Amina Dika Abdullahi, former Woman Representative Rehema Hassan, Bura MP Yakub Adow Kuno, Galole MP Hiribae Said Buya, and Bangale Ward Representative Jibril Mahamud Farah.
NCIC Chair Samuel Kobia confirmed the summon during the NCIC engagement with the Kenya Editors Guild on Monday.
Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has since declared 12 locations drawn across Bangale and Tana North sub-counties in Tana River as disturbed and dangerous due to insecurity.
NCIC Chair Kobia at the same time said they are set to hold town hall meetings in all 47 counties to foster conversations across the generations.
The objective of the strategy is to empower diverse peace actors to initiate and sustain initiatives aimed at promoting common understanding, conflict resolution and social cohesion within Kenyan communities.
Kobia said this will help in bridging generational gaps as witnessed during the Gen Z protests.
"The Gen Zs have refused dialogue and instead embraced transgenerational conversation to take the country forward", Kobia noted.
The commission noted that Gen Z seeks direct engagement with their leaders to foster an environment in which they can triumph socially and economically, free from perceived bottlenecks that stifle their efforts.
Their relentless pursuit of accountability, NCIC said, has led to a new era of inter-governmental cooperation between the Senate and the National Assembly.
