Two arrested as pistol with 10 bullets recovered in Kamukunji

Two suspects were arrested Sunday after police recovered a pistol loaded with 10 bullets hidden under stones in Kamukunji, Nairobi.

The Czeska pistol belongs to the Kenya Police and it is unclear how it found its way to the site.

A group of boys who were playing football near the site called the police after sighting it.

Police from the Railways police station visited the scene and confirmed it was a pistol hidden there.

According to police, the boys had followed the ball to the site when they sighted it and raised an alarm.

It was then that two suspects were arrested over the recovery with police stating they were helping them to know how the weapon was hidden there.

Nairobi police commander Adamson Bungei said they are investigating the incident.

Such weapons are usually used in violent crimes in the city.

Police say there have been instances where armed criminals use pistols to rob and maim victims and the incidents remain under probe.

Meanwhile, police are investigating two separate murder incidents reported to them.

The first incident happened in Nyali, Mombasa where a 40-year-old man died after being battered by people known to him.

According to the police, the deceased was assaulted on October 6 in Sosiani area within Maweni sub-location and admitted to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.

The body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.

In Kadzandani area, Nyali, a man was stabbed and killed in a fight.

The incident happened in Kisimani area and according to the public, the deceased had fought at a nearby bar where he succumbed having sustained multiple body injuries.

Police said the body of the man aged 42 had multiple stab wounds following the attack.

The body was moved to Coast General Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and further probe.

No arrest has been made so far, police said adding a probe is ongoing.

A team of detectives is separately looking for the suspects behind the murder incidents, police commanders said.
