The group which was armed with machetes accessed her residence in the wee hours of Thursday morning before they were robbed.

She reported the matter to the Athi River police station as a robbery with violence incident report at 6.15am on Thursday.

The woman said the thugs scaled her home’s perimeter wall located at 4 Winds estate in Sabaki within the Athi River subcounty before they gained access to the main house through its main door which wasn’t closed when the incident happened.

“The woman reported that she was at her house when her husband came at around 2.30 am while drunk. She opened the main door and went upstairs leaving him in the sitting room. He later joined her in the bedroom and after some time they were suddenly awoken by a gang of about eight people masked and armed with pangas who accessed the compound by scaling the perimeter wall by use of a ladder and gained entry to the main house through the main door which is suspected to have been left unlocked,” a police report seen by the Star read in part.

The family according to police was also robbed of two laptops, a wristwatch, two mobile phones, bed sheets and assorted clothes.

Police said that the suspects could have used two electric motorbikes when they committed the crime.

“The scene was visited by Sabaki Police post police officers, and DCI personnel and documented by CSI. DCI Athi River police station investigating.” the police report read.
