Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has come out to address claims by former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua that he is the only cabinet member capable of challenging President William Ruto.

In a post on X, Miano asserted that Ruto values informed and thoughtful advice.

"I can authoritatively confirm that President Ruto listens to well-thought-out professional advice," she said.

Speaking at the Karen hospital moments after being discharged, Gachagua alleged that his only problem with the president is being truthful "because nobody else can tell him."

"I am the only man in the cabinet and the whole government who can stand up to President Ruto and tell him this is not right," he said.

At least 236 MPs voted to have him replaced by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki, triggering contestation on who is the rightful holder of the post.

He also cried foul saying he deserved better having contributed to their victory in the 2022 presidential poll.

“It is unfortunate that my security was withdrawn. I have been here without a single officer,” Gachagua said.

"Officers were disarmed and told not to come near me," he claimed.

Gachagua at the same time revealed that shortly after his security was withdrawn, some agents were dispatched to look for him in the hospital and "were hovering in the hospital's compound and all rooms".

"I had to call my wife and my children to come and stay in my room just in case they get entry to my room or compromise the people who were treating me," he said.
