KPLC confirms power outage in parts of Garissa Town

Kenya Power on Wednesday called for patience as it seeks to restore supply in parts of Garissa town.

The utility company in a statement on Wednesday morning confirmed that parts of Garissa Town had been without power since Tuesday.

Residents and business owners in Garissa have been without electricity since Tuesday, something the company has attributed to a fault at the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) Substation that services Garissa area.

The areas affected include Madogo, Bangale KBC, Iftin, Bulla Game, Bulla Mzuri, Tawakal, Bashal, Modika and Garissa University.

"A dedicated team from KETRACO and Kenya Power is on-site working to resolve the issue. Power restoration is expected later today,” Kenya Power said in a statement.

Kenya Power apologised to the residents for the inconvenience caused by the power outage and called for patience as the problem is sorted.

"We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by the outage. Thank you for your patience and understanding," the statement said.

Kenya Power performs regular gridline system upgrades to ensure optimum performance.

Other counties in Kenya scheduled for power outages on Wednesday include Nairobi, Kakamega and Busia.

Muthaiga and Loresho areas are expected to be without electricity with specific parts like Brookside Groove, Matundu Lane and University of Nairobi expected to experience power outage between 9 am and 5 pm.

Otiende Estate, Joyland, Rosterman, Mukhonje, Enjinja, Eshishiru, Shibuli, Emasai Mission, Shimanyiro and Emaungu are the set areas scheduled to experience power outage in Kakamega County.

In Busia County, areas like Khetias supermarket, DC's office, County Commissioners office, KPLC offices, Kisii East, Burumba will also go without electricity between 9 am and 5 pm.
