IHRM condemns Wells Fargo HR manager's murder

The Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) has condemned the brutal killing of Wells Fargo's Human Resource manager.

The security firm HR Boss Willis Ayieko’s body was found near a stream in Yala, Siaya County, ON  Wednesday, October 23.

The discovery came after he went missing on Friday, October 18.

In a statement regarding the killing, IHRM National Chairman Odero Philip Dalmas asked security agencies to conduct a thorough probe into the murder incident.

“In light of this tragedy, we are confident that law enforcement agencies will conduct swift and thorough investigations to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice without delay,”  he said.

Odero further urged organizations across all sectors to strengthen their security protocols for HR professionals.

He added that Ayieko’s death has shocked the HR community and the broader professional landscape.

Odero described Ayieko as a distinguished HR professional adding that his death is a loss to the HR community.

“Ayieko was a distinguished member of our profession whose career exemplified excellence, integrity, and unwavering commitment to professional standards,” Odero said.

“His untimely death represents not only a personal tragedy but also a significant loss to the HR profession in Kenya.”

The IHRM boss further expressed commitment to stand with the family of Ayieko even as they prepare burial rites for their kin.

"In this moment of grief, we stand in solidarity with the bereaved family and the Wells Fargo,” he said.

Odero urged the HR community to stand united in advocating for enhanced safety standards that protect HR professionals.

He appealed to all stakeholders to actively support and participate in initiatives designed to safeguard professionals working in high-risk positions saying collective actions are essential to prevent such incidents.

"Ayieko's legacy of professional excellence and dedication will continue to inspire future generations of HR practitioners.

"We must honour his memory by strengthening our resolve to advance the HR profession while ensuring the safety and well-being of our members,” he said.

The statement by IHRM comes even as DCI piece together Ayieko’s last moments in a bid to find his killers.

His vehicle was found abandoned at a petrol station in Sabatia Vihiga County.

Police say those who drove the vehicle switched off the dash cam to hide their identity.

Police are yet to establish what could have led to his murder.
