Kenyans who wish to get jobs in Qatar have been advised to present themselves at various venues for interviews.
The interviews will be taking place for the next three days beginning Friday, October 25 to Sunday, October 27.
Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua through his X handle on Friday indicated that a Qatari company is partnering with the ministry to conduct interviews in the three days.
The Qatari company is keen on sourcing Kenyan talents in two respective fields, the Hospitality and Service industry and the Construction and Technical industry.
According to Mutua, interviews for the hospitality and service industry will be conducted at KICC while those for the construction and technical industry will take place at Kabete National Polytechnic from 7 am.
In the Hospitality and Service industry, Mutua said the jobs available are for nurses, kitchen helpers, chef de parties, bar backs, waitresses, light and heavy vehicle drivers, kids attendants and hotel maintenance technicians.
"Please ensure you are familiar with your industry and job duties. Only candidates for the listed job openings will be allowed entry," he said.
The construction and technical service industry shall see interested candidates taking part in interviews for rigger signalmen, construction helpers, cleaners, electricians, plumbers, masons, painters, tile layers, steel fixers and welders.
Mutua said candidates should dress in black and white official wear or overalls if required by one's field of specialty.
They will also be required to carry their personal CV, passport-sized photo and a passport.
The CS said that those without official passports will have arrangements made to acquire one if they are hired.
"No fee will be charged to be interviewed or considered for a job. Once hired one will be given requirements for medical, visa processing, air ticket, and other travel modalities will be provided for free,” Mutua said.
The CS also warned participants from handing over their passport to anyone.
This is just but one of the many programmes that the Kenyan government has implemented in order to address unemployment, a pressing issue especially among the Kenyan youth.
Among the key initiatives is the Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project (KYEOP), launched in collaboration with the World Bank.
KYEOP provides training, grants, and internships to equip young people with skills aligned with market demands, targeting thousands of youths annually.
This is just but one of numerous initiatives the government is undertaking to ensure that the unemployment gap in Kenya is breached.
