Robber suspect

Police officers fatally shot two suspected robbers in a shootout early Sunday morning, recovering a Mini Revolver, a panga, several mobile phones, and a motorcycle in Kilimani.

The incident occurred on Tigoni Road near Naivas Supermarket as officers on routine patrol encountered the gang mid-crime.

According to preliminary reports, the police officers were on duty when they unexpectedly came upon the three-member gang allegedly robbing passersby.

The encounter quickly escalated into a gunfight, which left two of the suspects dead while the third managed to escape, reportedly suffering gunshot wounds.

Authorities have since launched an intensive search for the escaped suspect, who remains at large.

Following the confrontation, two members of the public, who had previously reported being robbed, were able to identify their stolen items among the recovered valuables.

The identification of these items corroborated the suspects' involvement in recent thefts in the area, providing additional evidence for the case.

Crime scene detectives promptly arrived at the location to process the scene, gathering forensic evidence as part of their investigation.

Authorities have yet to release the identities of the two deceased suspects, pending further investigations.

In response to the incident, law enforcement agencies in Kilimani Sub-County said they have increased patrols to ensure heightened security within the area.

Police officials urged residents to remain vigilant and continue working with law enforcement to curb crime and ensure a safer neighborhood.

“We commend the members of the public who stepped forward to identify their belongings, which greatly aids our efforts in identifying these perpetrators and ensuring justice is served,” a Kilimani law enforcement official said.

The official emphasized the importance of public cooperation and assured residents that patrols and surveillance will be intensified to deter criminal activities.

The authorities have also appealed to anyone with information about the escaped suspect’s whereabouts to come forward, promising that all tips will be handled confidentially.
