In a statement, COTU expressed gratitude to God for protecting and guiding Trump to the presidency, particularly at such a pivotal moment in global politics.
“The news of Trump's election was met with warmth and excitement among Kenyan workers, who have long valued the strong relationship between Kenya and the United States,” they said.
With the election of President Trump, COTU expressed hope that the U.S. would continue to be a supportive partner in addressing both local and global challenges.
In their statement, the trade union organization pointed out that global leadership requires individuals who not only possess decisiveness but also adhere to moral and Godly principles.
“Noteworthy, countries world over are in dire need of strong leaders who are equally God-fearing and can take decisive action on numerous issues on the global stage. As such, the election of President Trump is not only a win for stability at the global stage but also fresh air of sanity and action-oriented leadership,” the statement read in part
COTU expressed optimism that President Trump’s election would serve as a refreshing change on the global stage, bringing what they referred to as a “fresh air of sanity” and an approach focused on pragmatic action in tackling global issues.
The union believes that the emergence of such leadership is crucial, especially in light of the rise of ungodly leadership and policies that do not align with the moral values shared by many nations, including Kenya.
“As Kenyan workers, it remains our hope and trust that President Trump will usher in the much-needed sanity consideration of the rise of ungodly leaders with ungodly public policies, which transcend their borders, on the very platform. Kenyan workers are a people from a God-fearing nation and thus we will always stand with President Donald J. Trump.”
COTU reiterated the importance of continued cooperation between Kenya and the United States under President Trump’s administration.
Additionally, the union expressed confidence that President Trump would work alongside the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) to support the interests and welfare of American workers.
In closing, COTU emphasized its continued solidarity with the American people, particularly the working-class voters who played a significant role in Trump’s election victory.
The statement was signed by Secretary General Francis Atwoli.
