Police have arrested an alleged imposter linked to the fake registration of a private school where 23 pupils missed to sit for KPSEA examinations in a private school in Eldoret.

The man had been posing as an education officer and claimed to have registered the academy, which has since been shut down after the pupils missed the exams two weeks ago.

Uasin Gishu police boss Benjamin Mwanthi said the suspect was arrested with fake rubber stamps, which he used to con many residents.

The suspect alleged that the rubber stamps were for the Ministry of Education.

“He had visited the school severally and conned the directors, claiming he was in a position to register the school as an education officer," Mwanthi said.

A director and principal of the school were arrested two weeks ago and arraigned in court after the pupils missed sitting for their KPSEA exams.

The court released the suspects on bond as police probed the exam scam.

It's alleged that the imposter may have worked with some Education Ministry officers to issue fake exams to the pupils who had not been registered.

Several education officers have since been interdicted over operations of the school, which had about 300 pupils.

Mwanthi said the matter is still under investigation.

He said after investigations, all those involved would face court charges.

On Thursday, some of the affected parents met with Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Dr Edisson Nyale, seeking to know the fate of their children.

“The matter is being handled by all relevant organs of government so that we come up with a solution," Nyale said.

Nyale reiterated that those involved would face the full force of the law.

“We will not compromise or take lightly any attempts to mess up with the lives of our children," Nyale.

He said the school would remain shut as investigations into the matter continue. Police also seized several documents from the school.
