The founding chairman of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Johnson Muthama has yet again come out to refute claims that he has dumped the ruling party to join Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper party.

Through his X account, Muthama insisted that he is firmly in Kenya Kwanza.

He stated that it is only the UDA party that holds ideologies which he cherishes the most.

“I am firmly in UDA because it is the political party which has ideals and aspirations which I hold dearly," said Muthama.

According to Muthama who is currently a member of Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC), it is too early for leaders to engage in 2027 politics instead of focusing on their mandates.

He also urged them to give President William Ruto's administration time to work on the pledges made to Kenyans during the campaign.

"How can we possibly be discussing succession politics three years in advance? People should focus on more constructive matters,” he said.

He described what seems to be a well-choreographed online campaign aimed at disparaging him as "absurd and baseless" noting that his current position makes him apolitical hence the silence.

"As a member of an independent commission, I am prohibited from engaging in political discourse or making political statements. It is absurd to see certain individuals making baseless claims about my alleged stance on the 2027 elections," he said.

This is the second time Muthama has been forced to comment on reports about him decamping UDA.

In June this year, the former Machakos senator came out and reaffirmed his position amid speculations linking him to the Wiper party insisting he is a principled person and in the ruling party to stay.

He however said as Ukambani leaders, they will always meet to push for the interests of the community, regardless of the political party one supports.

"I understand lies are being peddled that I’ve re-joined Wiper Party but as a principled person, I am in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to stay," he said.

"We will meet to champion unity of the community devoid of political parties."

His remarks came after he made comments to the effect that the Ukambani region was given a raw deal by President William Ruto's government.

"You saw Muthama form the UDA party but today, apart from Kambas who were given messenger jobs, including me, there is no Kamba leader on the cake-sharing table," he said.
