The President assured Kenyans that the government is united in its mission to drive the country forward.
He spoke during the signing of the FY 2024/2025 ministerial performance contracts at State House, Nairobi.
“I promise you, we will confound the naysayers. This country will not fail, it will succeed. The enemies of Kenya will be put to shame,” Ruto declared, highlighting his administration’s commitment to Kenya’s prosperity.
“This great nation that God has given us will succeed, we are going to take this country forward. I am persuaded, and I am very clear and focused on making sure that, together with all of us working as leaders in the Republic of Kenya, we will succeed.”
Ruto explained that these contracts define the government’s “solemn bond to fulfil these commitments” and emphasized that accountability and measurable progress are central to the government’s development goals.
"Our performance contract with citizens was formalised upon the inauguration of this administration in our commitments under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation of Kenya," he said.
"This plan embodies
our commitment to addressing critical priorities, including reducing
the cost of living, managing inflation, creating jobs, eradicating
hunger, enhancing food production and productivity, expanding the
tax base, and improving foreign exchange balances."
Performance contracting, he said, arises from our recognition of the need for a structured mechanism to transform Kenya, subjecting each of our actions to objective benchmarks to evaluate progress.
With the contracts signed by Cabinet Secretaries and PSs, Ruto outlined that the performance measures would ensure the effective use of public resources to meet citizens’ expectations and constitutional mandates.
He expressed confidence that this accountability framework would keep the government focused on improving the quality of life for all Kenyans.
The President underscored his administration’s collective commitment to addressing the nation’s challenges with resilience and integrity.
