Two county executives in Nandi have resigned just days after an MCAs ad hoc committee had recommended their sacking along with all other executives.
Governor Stephen Sang announced the resignation of the two and immediately nominated three other individuals as to be approved for appointment as executives.
Sang said he had accepted the resignations of Ruth Koech, who has been executive for health, and Drice Rono, who was serving as roads executive.
The governor appointed his deputy, Dr Yulita Mitei to act as health executive.
He has nominated a pharmacist at Moi Referral Hospital Viola Cherotich Chemogos to be vetted by the county assembly for appointment as new executive for health.
Sang also nominated Reney Jepkosgei Kirwa to be vetted for appointment for executive for education while Robert Kipchirchir Limo was nominated to be new executive for Roads.
Sang also reshuffled some of his other executives.
In the changes Alfred Lagat has been re-assigned to serve in the lands and environment docket, Philemon Bureti has been moved to trade while Rose Angira has been transferred to sports.
Scholastica Tuwei has been moved to Gender and Culture while Isiah Keter has been retained in the Public Service docket.
Chief officer Beatrice Chemurgor has been transferred to education while Chief officer Benjamin Kiprotich has been transferred to Gender and Culture.
“I have confidence that those I have nominated will serve the people of Nandi with dedication once vetted and approved by the assembly”, said Sang
Governor Sang announced the changes at the county headquarters in Kapsabet.
This comes a week after MCAs at the assembly fought while voting on an adhoc committee report that had recommended sacking of all county executives.
Majority of the MCAs voted to reject the report sparking a fight with those who were supporting the removal of all executive’s appointed by Sang.
The move to shoot down the report has strengthened Governor Sang’s administration and he says his focus now is on completion of his legacy projects.
