Deputy President Kithure Kindiki assured Kenyans going through tough economic times that the difficult period will soon come to an end.

Speaking in Kyuso, Mwingi North in Kitui during a service at Gospel Outreach Church, Kindiki said micro-economic indicators paint a bright future.

“I want to assure Kenyans that in the two to three years, our economy will be where it is supposed to be,” he promised.

The Deputy President measures are in place to put the economy back on track.

“Where we have come from is far. The hardest part of the journey is getting behind us as micro indicators are looking good.”

“The price of fuel has stabilised, the cost of food has come down, and the exchange rate is good. I just ask for a little patience, and we will get to where we want to be,” stated.

He added that a country is built through patriotism, prayer, love, and hard work.

“We must love one another even if we differ politically because we have no other home apart from Kenya,” he said.

Kindiki defended President William Ruto’s performance since he assumed office, stating that the Head of State is keen to fulfill all his election pledges.

“For the first time in 10 years, Kenya will not import a single bag of sugar.  For the first time in many years, Kenya will not import maize,” he said.

“We know we are not there yet, and so much is yet to be done, but we will get there.”

Kindiki added that before elections, Kenyans will have witnessed an economic transformation.

“In the next two years, our focus will be putting money in the pockets of Kenyans. We are already doing this through the affordable housing programme and revival of the manufacturing sector,” the DP said.

He said the government is also committed to helping Kenyans secure jobs abroad.

“You have seen the labour CS going from county to county to help youth get jobs in other countries. It is better if they work outside Kenya than stay at home jobless and become problematic,” he said.
