Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has given yet another clearest indication that he is ready to join forces with some opposition leaders ahead of 2027.

Speaking during a TV interview Sunday night, Gachagua described Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his DAP-K counterpart Eugene Wamalwa as great leaders adding “definitely we can work together".

While maintaining that they have not entered into any agreement with the particular leaders, Gachagua asserted that as like-minded leaders, they constantly talk.

“What is happening is that people who are like-minded talk to each other. You cannot go to discuss with other people before you put your house in order,” he stated.

He said there are opportunities to forge partnerships with such leaders noting the people of Mt Kenya have listened to Kalonzo and they like what he is saying.

“The people of the mountain and myself were very happy with the stand Kalonzo took during the impeachment,” he said.

According to Gachagua, they hope to provide a clear political direction to their people by early February next year.

He disclosed that there are ongoing talks to unite the Agikuyu, Embu, Meru and Akamba (Gema) tribes.

At the same time, he apologised to the region for what he termed as entering a 'marriage' that has failed to live up to its expectations.

“Probably due to lack of experience, I committed the region to an arrangement that came to haunt us,” he said

Gachagua who was impeached in October has told his supporters that he is not quitting politics yet has been on a charm offensive in parts of Mt Kenya saying he is showing them a political route to follow.

“I will show you the way forward. I want our people not to fear at all. God is faithful and I can’t be defeated,” he said on November 2, in Kirinyaga.

Speaking at a separate event in Kiambu, he urged residents to remain calm and refrain from protests.

“Many people are calling me, asking what is going to happen. Please, do not worry… Our community is very unique, and many were surprised. They expected people to take to the streets, lighting bonfires, destroying vehicles, shouting – but no, that is not who we are. These people do not know us well. When we feel offended, we keep quiet,” he said.

He, however, encouraged residents to express their frustrations through song and dance.

“Say nothing, and if you feel strongly that you must express yourself, do it through song and dance.”
