Day for persons with Disabilities

Kenya will today join the world in marking the International Day for Persons with Disabilities.

This year's theme is 'Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future'.

The day is about promoting the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities at every level of society and development, and to raise awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of political, social, economic, and cultural life.

It is being promoted by the United Nations and has been observed since 1992.

British Deputy High Commissioner event

British Deputy High Commissioner to Kenya Dr Ed Barnett will host a reception that will bring together stakeholders to celebrate progress on disability inclusion through digital access opportunities, promote the abandonment of GBV (FGM) and increase awareness at the British High Commissioner’s residence, Muthaiga along Tchui Road.

EACC nominee vetting

The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) nominee for the CEO position Abdi Mohamud is set to be vetted today.

He will appear before the National Assembly's Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs.

Directions to be issued in case challenging new varsity funding model

The High Court will this morning issue directions in a case challenging the new universities funding model. The matter is listed before Justice Bahati Mwamuye.

The court in August this year issued temporary orders blocking the implementation of the model.

This is after Cofek and Elimika Mashinani filed a case in court challenging the same.
