A women's lobby group has announced a strategic partnership with China Trade Week Global (CTW Global), a platform for local businesses to connect with international manufacturers.

The collaboration between CTW Global and Women in Technology and Innovation Africa (WITIA) aims to empower African women in technology and innovation.

The partnership will foster pathways to economic opportunities, digital inclusion, and cross-border collaborations.

CTW Kenya’s 10th Edition has been seen as a milestone achievement with WITIA being a strategic part of the celebration.

CTW Kenya’s 10th Edition is scheduled for July 2025 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

The collaboration between CTW Global and WITIA seeks to address gender disparity within the digital economy as growth in the sector is expected to reach new heights over the next decade.

WITIA noted that while women make up nearly 50 per cent of Africa’s population, their participation in technology and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields remains significantly lower.

It attributed the trend to barriers like limited access to education, training, and networks.

Through the partnership, WITIA and CTW Global will launch multiple initiatives designed to accelerate skills development, support entrepreneurship and increase access to mentorship and networking.

The two will also work closely with African governments and private sector leaders to develop policies that foster an inclusive digital economy, with a focus on closing the gender gap in STEM.

“By joining forces with China Trade Week Global, we’re not only expanding opportunities for women in Africa but also building a bridge that connects African innovation with global resources,” said Eunice Pohlmann, founder and chair at WITIA

“This partnership represents a critical step toward a future where women in the African continent are equal global players in technology and business.”

CTW Global, renowned for fostering trade between China and emerging markets, sees the partnership as a valuable investment in Africa’s future.

“This collaboration with WITIA reflects our commitment to support Africa’s growth, especially in sectors like technology where women’s contributions are essential,” stated Zahoor Ahmed, Vice President at MIE Events, an exhibition organiser.

“By supporting African women in tech, we are paving the way for new economic and innovation pathways that will benefit both regions.”
