Senior State House advisor Moses Kuria now wants President William Ruto, retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to come together and give Kenyans a new constitution.

In a personal statement, Kuria said the three should lead the nation in picking up where the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) flopped and give Kenyans a new constitution.

“Give this country a Constitution that speaks to the emerging realities of our nation and our society. BBI Season 2 is urgent and cannot wait,” he said.

BBI was a proposed set of amendments to the Constitution of Kenya initially proposed in October 2019.

A judicial ruling declared Uhuru’s signature political reform project unconstitutional.

The initiative was conceived after the famous “Handshake” between Uhuru and Raila that ended months of post-election violence and confrontations.

The BBI was tasked with inquiring into and making recommendations about nine areas that Uhuru and Raila had decided were crucial to the effort to “create a united nation for all Kenyans."

In his statement, Kuria explained that Kenyans can no longer depend on handshakes and personal meetings to make them feel safe in their country.

“The frequent handshakes and artificial formations have vindicated President Kenyatta and Prime Minister Raila on the BBI initiative. They were right and we were wrong,” he added.

Kuria’s statement came hot on the heels of a visit by Ruto to Uhuru at his home in Kiambu.

The former Gatundu South MP further said it was a mistake to leave the Jubilee Party.

“Mt Kenya region, like all other regions deserve a strong political voice. It is our imaginable right. For all the good and bad lessons we have learnt, it was a mistake to leave the Jubilee Party,” he explained.

He said leaders from the region will embark on bringing all the political parties with a footing in the region under the Jubilee Party.

“We did it in 2016 when we dissolved parties to form Jubilee. We will do it again. Jubilee under Uhuru as the party leader is the way to go,” he stated.
