The Kenyatta International Convention Centre has won several accolades as a leader in leveraging technology for corporate excellence.

KICC won two awards at the Information Communication Association of Kenya (ICTAK) Value Awards.

The convention centre was honoured as the best use of ICT in corporate governance and the best use of digital platforms.

Further, KICC's Digital Communication Manager David Itumbi was named Digital Communication Practitioner of the Year.

KICC said that the awards underscore its commitment to driving innovation and excellence in the digital space to enhancing reputation as a forward-thinking institution.

KICC CEO James Mwaura expressed pride in the institution’s accomplishments.

“These awards are a testament to our relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation in the digital realm. At KICC, we believe that technology is a cornerstone of modern governance and communication, and we are honoured to be recognized for our efforts," Mwaura said.

The ICTAK Value Awards celebrate organisations and individuals who demonstrate outstanding innovation, leadership, and excellence in the use of information and communication technology.

This year’s event brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to recognize transformative contributions across various sectors.

KICC is a crucial address for several government offices.

The centre is currently one of the state corporations established under the Tourism Act 2011.

Its objective and purpose is to promote the business of Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conferences and Exhibitions also known as MICE.

In September 2013, as the complex celebrated its 40th anniversary, it was renamed the Kenyatta International Convention Centre.

It boasts of being the leading facility in the meetings industry in East Africa and has held quite several regional and international conferences.

After completion, KICC held the rank of the tallest building in Nairobi up until the construction of Teleposta Towers.

The building has since then ceded its position as the tallest tower to a host of other newer projects including the UAP Old Mutual Tower, Times Tower and the Britam Tower, which is the tallest building in Nairobi as of 2020.
