The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) on Wednesday recalled a condom brand batch citing substandard quality.
PPB said samples of the Sure lubricated condoms dotted, Batch No. 2405055, did not comply with the specifications for the freedom from holes (conductivity) test performed.
“In light of this, the board advises all pharmaceutical outlets, healthcare facilities, healthcare professionals, and members of the public to immediately quarantine the product,” PPB said in a statement to media houses.
The board called for a stop to any further distribution, sale, issuance, or use of the affected product batch.
It said the condoms should be returned to the nearest healthcare facility or respective suppliers.
“The Board encourages the public to report any suspected cases of substandard medicines or adverse drug reactions to the nearest healthcare facility or the Pharmacy and Poisons Board,” chief executive officer F.M Siyoi said.
Siyoi said the board is committed to ensuring the safety and efficacy of medicines in the market to protect public health.
