One dead, three injured in Narok-Bomet Road crash

One person has died and three others injured after a fatal road accident occurred early Saturday morning at the Tegero area along the Narok-Bomet road, police have confirmed.

According to the police, the crash took place at around 4:00 in the morning when a Toyota saloon car and a bus ferrying 4 passengers collided.

A female passenger in the Toyota saloon car died on the spot.

The car's driver and two other passengers sustained minor injuries and were rushed to Narok County Referral Hospital for treatment.

According to police reports, the saloon car was heading towards Narok with four occupants, lost control and collided with the bus traveling in the opposite direction towards Bomet.

None of the 34 passengers aboard the bus were injured in the incident as per the police reports.

The body of the deceased has been taken to the Narok County Referral Hospital mortuary. Both vehicles have been towed to Ololulunga Police Station for inspection as investigations into the accident continue.

The accident happened hours another one took place in Mombasa where a woman lost her life and another individual sustained severe injuries after being struck by a lorry at the Likoni Crossing Channel on Friday night.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. when a lorry carrying building blocks lost control while descending the mainland ramp toward the ferry, police reported.

The vehicle fatally hit a female pedestrian, killing her on the spot. A male pedestrian suffered multiple fractures to both legs and was rushed to Likoni Sub-County Hospital for treatment.

Authorities transported the deceased's body to Coast General Hospital Mortuary. Meanwhile, the lorry involved in the accident has been impounded at Likoni Police Station as investigations continue.

Fatal accidents have been on the rise with more than 4,000 people killed so far in the country.

Statistics provided by police show some 4,282 people were killed in accidents between January and November 2024 as compared to 3,901 that were reported in the same period in 2023.
