The Registrar of Political Parties has termed as fake a public notice doing rounds on social media about a political party allegedly linked to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

In a notice on the ORPP's official X account, the office said the alleged notice of provisional registration of the Democratic People's Party is a fabrication.

The alleged Democratic People's Party (DPP), had Gachagua and his allies Cleophas Malala and Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba as founding members.

The fake notice had the Mountain (Mulima) as the alleged party symbol with ''Mulima Mbele'' as the slogan and Brown, Light Blue and White as the colours.

The fake notice surfaced on social media platforms on Wednesday and was being shared widely despite the alleged preliminary registration offending the law.

Under the ORPP regulations and Political Parties Act, the ORPP cannot register either provisionally or fully, a party that advances the interests of a region, group or section

The alleged fake notice gave Kenyans with views on the registration of the DPP seven days to file their written objections to the ORPP.

"The correct notice@ORPPKenya published Tuesday, 17th December 2024 in my Gov. publication. Also available on orpp.or.ke.Kindly be informed and spread the legit position,''  the ORPP said in the notice.
