President William Ruto has conveyed condolences to former ICT Cabinet Secretary Margaret Nyambura following the passing on of her mother, Rosemary Wambui.

Mama Wambui's death was announced on Tuesday by the family.

The family did not, however, disclose the cause of her death.

In his message of solace, Ruto described Mama Wambui as a prayerful, hardworking, and dedicated individual.

The President said the late Wambui made significant contributions to her community.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time of mourning. Rest in peace, Cucu," he wrote.

Other leaders who have condoled with the former CS include ex-Kiambu Governor, William Kabogo.

In his message, Kabogo expressed heartfelt sympathies saying, "May our Lord Jesus Christ see the family through this very difficult moment."

The death of Nyambura's mother comes a week after a mini Cabinet reshuffle that saw some Cabinet Secretaries, including Nyambura, reassigned other duties.

Ruto nominated the former CS Kenya's High Commissioner to Ghana, just five months after she succeeded Eliud Owalo at the ICT ministry.

Her nomination awaits parliamentary approval, an exercise that is expected to be undertaken by the Defence committee on January 14, 2025.

The President, in her stead, nominated Kabogo to the Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy docket.

Nyambura will be vetted alongside other two CS nominees - Mutahi Kagwe (Agriculture) and Lee Kinyanjui (Trade and Industry).

Andrew Karanja, who had been at the helm of the Ministry of Agriculture since July's Cabinet reshuffle, was named Kenya's ambassador to Brazil.

If approved, Kinyanjui will replace Salim Mvurya who was moved to the Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Ministry to replace Kipchumba Murkomen, who was appointed the substantive Interior CS to replace Kithure Kindiki following his appointment as the Deputy President.

The new changes announced by State House Chief of Staff Felix Koskei on Thursday, December 19, aim to align government leadership with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
