Nairobi County government has dismissed reports indicating that the title deeds for the Pangani Affordable Housing Project and Jeevanjee Bachelors Estate have been lost.
Nairobi County Secretary Godfrey AKumali in a statement on Monday said the title deed for the 5.2-acre Pangani estate land, registered as Nairobi/Block 40/474, is secure.
He said the document is being held by Muriu, Mungai, and Company Advocates.
The firm represents Nairobi Pangani Estate Limited, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) managing the project.
“The firm is facilitating the processing of sectional titles for the housing units being developed on the property. The certificate of lease for Pangani Estate was registered in the name of Nairobi City County on March 16, 2018, before being transferred to the SPV on September 20, 2018. No title is lost,” read the statement.
Lydia Mathia, the Chief Officer for Urban and Housing Renewal, said the project’s progress is 45 per cent complete.
“The developer is targeting full completion by the end of 2026, with partial handovers every four months starting in January 2025,” she stated.
Regarding the Jeevanjee Bachelors Housing Project, the county confirmed that the title deed for the estate (LR No. 209/5458) is held by a bank.
The title was registered under another SPV, Nairobi Bachelors Estate Limited, and used as collateral to secure funding for the affordable housing initiative.
“The overall construction of the Jeevanjee Housing Project is 46% complete,” said Mathia.
“Affordable housing units will be completed by December 2025, with the market units finalized by September 2026.”
This clarification follows reports suggesting that the title deeds for the two projects were missing, claims the county has now firmly refuted.
