Gerald Karicha in court

The father of the abducted youth, Billy Mwangi, on Tuesday, shed tears as he pleaded with a court in Nairobi to help him find his son.

Gerald Karicha narrated to the court in Nairobi how his son was abducted during which he was overcome by emotions.

He narrated how four men jumped out of a double cabin pickup and grabbed his son before throwing him inside the vehicle.

“He asked them; who are you and where are you taking me and they said utajulia mbele. Immediately his phone went off and they went with it,” he said.

“Up to now, I have no idea where my son is. I have read this order asking him to be produced in court today. I was coming for him, I have come from Embu,” he told the court.

Karicha said his wife is agonising and has collapsed so many times.

“I did not come with her because I could not be able to handle her. When I look around the court, I cannot see my son. I thought he would be here. Seriously, who took my son? We have taken a lot of medicine to help with blood pressure,” Karicha said as he broke down.

“I can only see people who look like my son but he is not here.”

Mwangi was allegedly abducted just over a week ago.

“We are very sorry to the offended parties over our son’s portrayal of the President in a negative way through the images seen on social media," the parents noted.

“If our son is in the hands of the government, we would like to request his release. We will discipline our son accordingly and show him the right way,” they added.

Mwangi was one of three individuals allegedly abducted over the posting of the images with the others being Bernard Kavuli and Peter Matuti.

Just like Mwangi, the whereabouts of Kavuli and Matuti remain unknown close to a week after their abduction.
