National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula was overcome with emotions as the body of his late mother, Anne Nanyama Wetang'ula, arrived at their family home.

Wetang'ula paid a heartfelt tribute to her with moving words.

"As I lay my hand on Maayi’s coffin, I feel the weight of her love and the depth of her sacrifice. This touch is my final gesture of gratitude, my way of saying thank you for a lifetime of care, guidance, and unwavering support," he said.

In an intimate moment of reflection, Wetangula said, "Though I cannot hold her hand anymore, I hold onto her memory, her wisdom, and the legacy she left behind. Rest peacefully, Maayi. Your love will forever be my strength."

"Today, as we escort our beloved mother’s body to her final resting place, we are reminded of the profound love, wisdom and strength she shared with us. While our hearts are heavy with grief, they are also full of gratitude for the precious moments we shared," he added.

Wetang'ula said the death of her mum was not just a loss but a celebration of the incredible life that touched so many and left an indelible mark on all of us.

"As we make our way home together, let us honor her legacy with unity, love and the promise to carry forward the values she held dear. In the words of 2 Timothy 4:7, our dear mother fought the good fight, she finished the race and kept the faith."

Mama Anne Nanyama is also the mother of Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi.

She was also a dedicated farmer and a passionate advocate for equity. May her soul Rest in Eternal Peace.

Westlands Member of Parliament mourned his mother as a mentor who was full of wisdom.

"After a prolonged period of illness, Mama peacefully rested, bringing to an end a remarkable life defined by love, sacrifice, and unwavering faith," Wanyonyi said.
