Notable names shortlisted for PSs position

Several ex-PSs and CASs applied for the position.

Top officials including those holding lucrative jobs in government are among those who applied for the Principal Secretary job advertised by the Public Service Commission (PSC).

A list of applicants shared by the commission shows that 2,517 individuals applied for the position.

However, out of the 2,517 individuals, only 109 were shortlisted.

They are now awaiting interviews to be conducted by the commission before a final list is forwarded to President William Ruto for appointment.

Those featured in the list of applicants are ex-CASs Nelson Marwa and Andrew Tuimur, former Director General NYS Matilda Sakwa, and ex-PSs Charles Sunkuli and Julius Jwan.

Others are Deputy National Security Advisor Joseph Boinett, former police spokesman Eric Kiraithe, Director General Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) Daniel Kiptoo Bargoria and former PSC chief executive officer Simon Rotich.

Among those shortlisted, however, are former nominated MP Wilson Sossion, former Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) secretary general Oluga Ouma, former Nairobi governor Anne Kananu, former CAS David Michael Osiany and social media commentator Gabriel Oguda.

Also on the list are Health Director General Patrick Amoth, former PS Nicholas Muraguri, former KCC managing director Nixon Sigey, TVET Director General Kipkirui Langat, media personality Pauline Sheghu, former KEMSA CEO Andrew Mulwa, former MP Joseph Limo and Kenya Water Institute board chairperson Patrick Musili.

The public has been invited to submit any credible information of interest relating to any of the shortlisted candidates (through affidavits).

PSC Chairperson Anthony Muchiri said that the vacancies arose from reassignments within various executive ranks, creating the need for new Principal Secretaries.

Successful candidates will assume the role of accounting officer for the State Department, manage financial and human resources, and ensure the development and implementation of performance systems.
