Meru Governor, Kawira Mwangaza, has continued to extend an olive branch to her Deputy Isaac Mutuma, as well as the MCAs, with the aim of working together for the development of the County.
Speaking, Thursday, at the same meeting with Mr Mutuma, 48 MCAs, as well as the County Assembly Speaker, Governor Mwangaza, said she will still invite those opposing her administration for another meeting by Monday to plan on the implementation of development projects for the region.
“I had invited my deputy, all the MCAs, and their speaker, but only 21 turned up. I will not tire of calling them so that we can unite to work for the Meru people since this is the work we were elected to do,” said Governor Mwangaza
She added that the meeting was simply to have engagements on strategies for delivering the development agenda in a transparent, accountable, and seamless strategy.
The governor noted with concern that it was the 14th consecutive Cabinet meeting that her deputy had failed to attend despite receiving official invitations.
"I extended the invitation to today’s meeting to him, but I am disheartened to learn that he cited security concerns as the reason for his absence,” said Governor Mwangaza.
“I will also extend another invitation to leaders who were absent during today’s development meeting so that, in unity, we can continue working together to serve the residents of Meru County.”
After the meeting, the governor made a development tour in Abothuguchi in Imenti Central where she commissioned a countywide road construction project by flagging off culvert installation, grading and graveling of Muthiu road and Aboncehnge road, as well as the grading and graveling of Kwa-Jakubu Phase 1 Road and Mukiria Technical-Kwa Kithinji Road.
