Health Cabinet Secretary Deborah Barasa is scheduled to address the press today on the current status of healthcare in the country.
CS Barasa will provide updates on key healthcare initiatives and developments in line with the government’s health agenda.
The event will be held at Afya House from noon.
CAF Draw
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to conduct the Draw of the Total Energies African Nations Championship (CHAN) today, Wednesday 15, 2025.
The event will be held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nairobi at 8 pm.
CHAN is a biennial football tournament contested by 16 qualifying African national teams composed exclusively of players who play in their countries' national leagues.
Kindiki departs for Mozambique
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has left the country for Mozambique to attend the inauguration of President-elect Francisco Chapo.
The Deputy President left the country on Wednesday morning.
Daniel Chapo will be sworn in on Wednesday.
This is the second time Kindiki is leaving the country to attend an inauguration as Deputy President.
It is also his second international trip as the country’s second in command.
Baby Pendo case
12 police officers accused of killing Baby Samantha Pendo in 2017 will plead to the charges today.
The date was set by the High Court in November 2024 during the mention of the case after two suspects failed to attend court.
Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Vincent Monda informed the court during the mention that the case is of public interest and all suspects must be present in court before they take plea.
The charges were instituted under the International Crimes Act, 2008 considering the role played by each of the suspects on the basis of the international law principle of superior responsibility.
Lady Justice Lilian Mutende also extended a warrant of arrest against the suspects.
Baby Pendo died after she was allegedly hit by a blunt object as anti-riot police officers pursued protesters in their compound.
