A guard was found dead at a construction yard in Nairobi.

The guard identified as Joshua Thuku, 5, was on duty at the yard when he was targeted and killed in his sentry box.

Police said his body was discovered on Thursday morning long after he had been murdered and the motive of the same is yet to be known.

A reliever had arrived to take over and found the deceased unresponsive.

He told police he knocked the gate but there was no response from the deceased.

He and other colleagues forcefully gained entry into the compound and found the deceased lying dead on the sentry box bed.

Police said the man was found with a deep cut on the forehead and the back of the head.

Nothing was stolen.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and probe.

The motive of the attack is yet to be known and no arrest has been made so far.

Elsewhere in West Alego, Siaya county, a woman was found murdered.

The body of Loureen Awour Omondi, 20, was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple deep cuts on the head and both hands.

Police said they are looking for the husband of the woman for grilling.

A used pesticide was found in a dustbin in the house amid fears he may have tried suicide.

The motive of the murder is suspected to be a family feud, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.

In the Sumba sub-location, Siaya county, the body of a male adult was found floating within the Nzoia River at Ahawagaya village.

Police said they found the body of John Oduor Waindiha, 36 floating on the banks of the river.

It is believed he died by drowning.

Police said they are investigating the incident.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
