Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi looks on during the handover of the ICT ministry to new CS William Kabogo

New Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo affirmed that his ministry is central to wealth and job creation.

Speaking when he took over office from acting CS Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, he pledged to foster collaborations to deliver on his mandate.

“Our accelerated journey to a digitally connected Kenya starts now. This ministry is central to driving wealth and job creation, and I am committed to collaborating with the team, Cabinet colleagues, and stakeholders to achieve this vision,” he stated.

Mudavadi urged officials in the ministry to hit the ground running now that it has a substantive CA.

“You now have a substantive CS in office. Kabogo is not a stranger to all of you. He has been an MP, a Kiambu governor and is a businessman. The way I know him, he is somebody who is forthright and speaks his mind,” he said.

Mudavadi appealed to the ministry staff to give the new CS the support he needs to fulfill his mandate.

“Accord him all the support and advise that is necessary so that he can serve Kenyans appropriately and in a manner that brings equity and fairness to all our people,” he stated.

Mudavadi challenged Kabogo to ensure achievements and activities of the government are well-publicised.

“We have a challenge in communication. In plain terms, we are getting a lot of beating from the media. Sometimes we do not speak to our good things,” he explained.

“They say you do not blow your own trumpet but I would like to look at it differently. If you do not blow your own trumpet, then who will do it for you,” he stated.

Mudavadi further challenged Kabogo to take the lead in ensuring responsible use of Artificial Intelligence and social media.

“We really have to think carefully about it as a nation and have a conversation so that we all know the rules of game.  Even in football, when you touch the ball with your hands your are penalized,” he stated.
