ODM Treasurer Timothy Bosire has declined President William Ruto’s appointment as the non-executive chair of the National Transport and Safety Authority board.
Bosire in an interview with Star said he had rejected the appointment after consultation with regards to community interests.
“I nevertheless, thank the appointing authority, HE President William Ruto for the appointment but in the circumstances decline the opportunity,” he said.
According to Bosire, when opportunity arises, one must first consider the interests of the society and the community.
“As a leader, I took time to consult and listen to the wishes and interests of the larger community. I came to the conclusion that fairness has not been served,” he said.
“As a community, we have made sacrifices and contributions in critical times and when resources and opportunities are being shared, interests of community must come first.”
Bosire now joins a list of Kenyans who have turned down Ruto’s job offer. Recently, former ICT Cabinet Secretary Margaret Nyambura declined her nomination as Kenya's ambassador to Ghana.
In a letter to the National Assembly's Defense Committee, Nyambura cited personal reasons for her decision.
She was due to appear before the Committee chaired by Belgut MP Nelson Koech which was conducting approval hearings for the nominees when the rejection was announced.
"I wish to inform you that I will not appear occasioned by personal and compelling reasons," Nyambura wrote to the Committee through the Clerk of the National Assembly.
"To save precious time of the committee, this letter serves as notice that I will not attend."
The same position had been rejected by Former West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi has declined his nomination as Kenya's High Commissioner to Ghana.

In October 2024, former Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga declined to take up the role of a member of the Nairobi Rivers Commission to which President William Ruto appointed her.
