President William Ruto will today start his week-long development tour of the Western region with his first stop being Kakamega County.

PSC members swearing-in

The newly-appointed Public Service Commission (PSC) vice chairperson Mary Kimonye and seven other members are set to be sworn in today.

The event to be held at KICC will be presided over by Chief Justice Martha Koome.

Parliament approved the appointment of the members on Thursday last week with President Ruto gazetting it on January 17.

The seven other members are Harun Maalim Hassan, Mwanamaka Amani Mambruki, Francis Meja, Irene Cherotich Asienga, Boya Molu, Joan Andisi Machayo, and Francis Otieno.

KTGA press briefing

The Kenya Tea Growers Association (KTGA) will address the media regarding the rising cases of land invasion and criminal activities in the multi-national tea estates.

According to the association, land invasion is causing massive losses to the firms and disruption of operations.

Mwaura press briefing

Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura is scheduled to address the press on key national developments.

A case in which rally driver Maxine Wahome is charged with the murder of Assad Khan continues today.

The last time the matter was in court, a video clip was played showing an emotional Wahome narrating to her father and detectives how she was assaulted by her late lover Assad Khan before he died.

 Donald Trump inauguration

Donald Trump will today be sworn in as the 47th US President to succeed Joe Biden.

The ceremony will take place inside the US Capitol Rotunda building after plans to hold it outdoors were abandoned due to cold.

Vice president-elect JD Vance will be first to take his oaths of office on 20 January, followed by Trump.
