Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang will today hold a media briefing at the Moi Forces Academy.

Important matters in education will be highlighted during the briefing.

PS interviews

The interviews for the shortlisted candidates for the position of principal secretary continue today.

The exercise being conducted by the Public Service Commission at its offices in Nairobi commenced Monday, January 27.

A total of 20 candidates including former CAS David Osiany, Stephen Motari, Joseph Limo and Morintat Oiboo are scheduled to appear today.

Some 109 candidates out 2, 517 who applied were shortlisted.

The interviews will conclude on Friday, January 31.

MPs retreat

The National Assembly mid-term retreat happening in Naivasha, Nakuru enters its third day today.

The summit commenced Tuesday.

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja expected in court

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja is expected to appear in court over the missing Mlolongo three.

A week ago, the court declined to set aside orders requiring the personal attendance of Kanja and DCI boss Mohamed Amin in court over the alleged abduction and disappearance of the trio in 2024.

Justice Chacha Mwita said the order he issued in January this year was intended to uphold the constitution and enforce the Bill of Rights.

Obado case

A Nairobi High Court will today rule on whether former Migori Governor Okoth Obado and two others have a case to answer in the murder of university student Sharon Otieno.

Sharon and her unborn baby were killed on the night of September 3, 2018, in Homa Bay County. 

The prosecution led by Gikui Gichui and Allan Mulama concluded its case against the accused last year (2024) with the testimony of investigating officer Moses Ole Sena. 

A total of 42 witnesses testified in the six-year-old case. 

Baby Pendo case

The High Court is set to issue directions on how the much-delayed baby Samantha Pendo case will proceed.

Justice Margaret Muigai is also expected to give a way forward on how the murder case against 12 police commanders will proceed. 

The matter involving the death of Pendo and 13 others during the 2017 post-election violence in Kisumu is yet to start since 2022 when the officers were first arraigned.
