The recently inaugurated selection panel for the recruitment of nominees for appointment as the chairperson and members of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will have its first meeting today.

Ahead of the scheduled meeting, there will be a swearing-in ceremony of some two other members at the Supreme Court. Chief Justice Martha Koome will preside over the ceremony.

The panel will be holding its meetings at the County house.

Parliamentary Service Commission is set to provide secretariat services to the panel.

MPs conclude retreat 

The National Assembly mid-term retreat which has been ongoing since Monday ends today.

The lawmakers convened to deliberate on among other issues priority legislation, strengthen oversight mechanisms, and evaluate the effectiveness of parliamentary committees in fulfilling their mandates.

It also provided an opportunity to discuss House business, MPs' welfare, and the role of Parliament in the integration of the East African Community (EAC).

Joint civil society media briefing

A group of civil society groups in constitutional governance, elections, transparency and accountability, and human rights will address the press on pertinent electoral processes, especially of the country's preparedness.

The platform will highlight the progress of electoral reforms, with a focus on NADCO legislative proposals, the status of public participation in the reform process and the proposed solutions to expedite the IEBC reconstitution while safeguarding electoral integrity.

They will also address the current challenges hindering the voter registration process and expectations and accountability measures for the newly appointed IEBC Selection Panel in ensuring a transparent reconstitution process.

The Civil Societies include Transparency International Kenya(TI-Kenya), Centre for Multiparty Democracy (CMD-K), Elections Observation Group (ELOG)Constitution and Reform Education Consortium (CRECO), Mzalendo Trust, and Electoral Law and Governance Institute for Africa(ELGIA). 
The briefing will be held at Double Tree by HiltonNgong Lane, off Ngong Road-Nairobi.
