Man dies after falling from fourth floor of Embakasi building

The suspect is said to have fallen accidentally after he leaned on a rail of a balcony.

CRIME SCENE

A party turned tragic when a 35-year-old man fell from the fourth floor of an apartment and died in Nairobi’s Embakasi area.

The incident happened on Monday night as the deceased Philip Kibet joined friends for drinks at an apartment, police said.

He is said to have slid from the balcony of the apartment fallen to the ground floor and died instantly.

Witnesses said he landed headfirst sustaining fatal injuries.

Those present said they heard a thud on the ground floor on checking they found the man with blood oozing from his mouth and ears.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The couple who were in the house was questioned and revealed the deceased fell accidentally. This is after he leaned on a rail of a balcony.

Police said they are investigating the incident. The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.

Elsewhere in Ziwani area, Nairobi, a 41-year-old woman was found dead in her room.

The woman identified as Caroline Wendi had asked her neighbours to make her porridge before she was found dead.

The neighbour said when he took the porridge to the woman, he found her unresponsive.

The incident happened on Monday evening and police said they are investigating the same.

The woman stayed alone in a single room.

In the Pangani area, a man collapsed and died as he worked at a construction site.

The man identified as Michael Lenga, 35 was among a group of workers at a construction site and had been laying tiles when he collapsed on Monday evening.

Witnesses said he started to bleed from his nose before he collapsed and died.

He was rushed to a hospital in the area where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body was moved to the mortuary.

Police said an autopsy is planned on the body to establish how he died.

Cases of sudden deaths have been on the rise in the country, police statistics show.
