In Summary
A thanksgiving prayer service to mark 27 years of pain and struggle for victims of the August 7, 1998 bomb blast at the US Embassy in Nairobi is set to be held today.
The event will be held at Bomb Blast Memorial Park from 9 am.
The park, located at the Cooperative Bank House in the CBD functions as a centre of outreach to the public, to educate Kenyans on the appalling consequences of terrorism and violence.
More than 220 people were killed in the incident linked to the Al-Qaeda group.
Among them was the official reopening of the Garissa Passport Application Centre, which had remained closed for a decade since 2014 following a wave of terror attacks in the region and parts of the country.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki will today open the Nyanza International Investment Conference in Kisumu.
The three-day event started on Thursday.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi will today attend the Joint Ministers' meeting of the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
The meeting is being held in Tanzania.
Mudavadi will co-chair the ministers' meeting to address the security situation and ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), preceding a Joint Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the EAC and SADC on Saturday.
Saturday's meeting will be co-chaired by President William Ruto and his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa.
