Eldoret city manager Tito Koiyet was on Tuesday evening injured after a gang of youth raided his office.
The youth accessed the office at County Social Hall located in the West area of the city.
Police and county security officers were called in to restore order at the offices.
Speaking to the Star, Koiyet confirmed that he had been injured during the attack and was treated and discharged.
“I have recorded a statement at the Eldoret Central Police Station and police will deal with the matter,” Koiyet said.
Koiyet explained that he was not aware of why the youth attacked him.
“Police will handle the details and those who did it will explain,” Koiyet said.
Uasin Gishu County through acting County Secretary Ambrose Tarus disowned groups of goons and gangs which are accused of harassing staff, some leaders and the business community in the region.
“The county government is not associated with any criminal gangs and has taken action to ensure the security at all county installations and offices,” Tarus said.
He said the county had deployed extra security at all its offices and that those involved in the attack on Koiyet would be dealt with as per the law.
Tarus explained that the cause of the attack would be traced and action taken against the said gangs.
He said they were working with the police to enhance security and also deal with the gangs operating in the city.
Sections of the business community have also complained about harassment by gangs.
Tarus said the county was disappointed by the attack on Koiyet which took place as the city board chairman Julius Kitur was holding a meeting within the same premises.
Tarus vowed that they would take action to ensure order in the city and at all county offices.
“We will now restrict entry to county offices and only allow access to those with explained business," Tarus said.
